Northwell Walk to Raise Health

On Sunday, May 18, the community will come together for Northwell Walk to Raise Health at Westchester, a vibrant, family-friendly event hosted at Northwell Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. This two-mile walk, one of five taking place across New York, aims to raise vital funds in support of local health care, with this year’s efforts focusing on the hospital’s Westchester Community Paramedicine program, an innovative initiative transforming how care is delivered to vulnerable patients at home.

The event kicks off at 8:30am at 701 North Broadway, with a 9:45am opening ceremony and a scenic walk beginning at 10:00am.

In true Westchester spirit, attendees can expect music, giveaways, wellness screenings, family activities and special guests, including Heather DeLuca from 100.7 WHUD, who will emcee the morning and offer walkers the chance to win tickets to see Avril Lavigne at Bethel Woods and Hudson Valley Renegades games.

This year, the spotlight shines on Phelps Hospital’s Community Paramedicine program, which launched in 2024 in partnership with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Northwell Emergency Telehealth Services (NETS), and the Center for Emergency Medical Services. The program enables trained paramedics, under physician supervision, to deliver medical care in patients’ homes, reducing emergency department visits while increasing access to care for seniors, palliative care patients, and others with mobility or transportation barriers.

Funds raised through the Walk also support Northwell Northern Westchester Hospital, which is working to expand behavioral health services for children and adolescents, which is addressing a growing need as nearly one in five youth in the U.S. face a mental health disorder each year.
