Fairfield University Professor Launches New Book on AI and Maternal Health

Jennifer Schindler-Ruwisch, DrPH, CPH, associate professor of public health at the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, will launch her debut book at the Fairfield University Store, located at 1499 Post Road in downtown Fairfield, on Wednesday, May 27 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The meet and greet is open to the public.

AI and Maternal Health: Transformations and Implications offers a critical examination of the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce disparities in maternal outcomes within the evolving healthcare landscape. Despite medical advancements, maternal morbidity remains high in the United States.

Drawing on the latest data and research, Dr. Schindler-Ruwisch’s book explores the role of AI across a range of medical technology applications—including chatbots, electronical medical records, virtual coaching, and social media—and considers how they might complement and supplement the work of healthcare providers to promote health equity and reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
