Gov. Ned Lamont is declaring April 23 as “Little Richard Day” in conjunction with a Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) screening of a documentary on the legendary singer”™s life.
According to a Variety report, the self-proclaimed “king and queen of rock ”˜n”™ roll” is being honored for “incomparable contributions to the history of music in America.” And while the Georgia-born Little Richard had no residential history in the Nutmeg State, two of the creators of the film “Little Richard: I Am Everything” can claim Connecticut ties: producer Robert Friedman is a GIFF board member and director Lisa Cortés is a Connecticut native and an alumna of Yale University.
The GIFF screening of “Little Richard: I Am Everything” will be at 3:00 p.m. on April 23 at the Bedford Playhouse in Westchester; the film opens in theatrical and video on demand release.
