The National Center for Jewish Film”™s Annual Film Festival will be presented from May 7-23 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Among the classic titles being screened at the festival are a new 4K restoration of the 1939 Yiddish-language classic “The Light Ahead” directed by Edgar G. Ulmer and starring David Opatoshu; a 75th anniversary screening of “Open Secret,” the 1948 film noir thriller that took on the once-taboo subject of anti-Semitism; and contemporary international dramas including the Ukrainian “Shttl,” the Austrian “Schächten ”“ A Retribution” and the Israeli “June Zero.”
Also being presented the documentary “The Levys of Monticello,” about the Jewish family that acquired and preserved Thomas Jefferson”™s Virginia estate after the death of the nation”™s third president.
