Northeast Utilities subsidiary Connecticut Light & Power Co. had a 2.4 percent drop in retail sales from a year ago, after adjustments for differing weather conditions.
CL&P is the dominant utility in Fairfield County.
Hartford-based Northeast Utilities reported a $44.3 million profit, including the impact of $91.5 million in charges related to the April merger with its Massachusetts counterpart NStar. The combined company produced $1.6 billion in revenue in the second quarter.
“Customers in Massachusetts and Connecticut have already realized $46 million of benefits from the merger in the form of rate credits in their bills in the second quarter,” said new Northeast Utilities CEO Thomas May, in a prepared statement.
