Shelton-based Budderfly, an on-demand energy management system, is sponsoring an energy leadership smart city event in Washington, D.C. this month.
Budderfly”™s event, “Building a Smart City: Global and DC Metro Area Perspectives,” takes place Sept. 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WeWork Wonder Bread Factory during Smart Cities Week.
Shawn Silver, Budderfly”™s vice president, said the company is involved in the event because smart cities need buildings with smart infrastructure. Budderfly”™s technology provides building owners with technology that allows them to measure, manage and control energy consumption data.
With direct replacement outlets, light switches and other devices, the Budderfly energy management system communicates consumption data and control commands over existing wiring without any modification to existing infrastructure. The system enables increased energy efficiencies and cost savings.
At the Building a Smart City event, a panel will explore smart concepts and address the challenges of growing city populations with their increased demands for more resources. The panel will discuss how the use of technology has helped Amsterdam in the Netherlands maintain an attractive and sustainable environment.
