A new poll of registered voters taken by the Quinnipiac University Poll at the university’s campus in Hamden, Connecticut, shows that the Donald Trump’s disapproval ratings on foreign policy and the war he started against Iran continue to creep upward.

With the Iran war in its fourth week, 42% of voters think it will make the world less safe, while 35% think it will make the world safer and 20% think it will make no difference. The divide becomes dramatic when viewed according to political beliefs. Among Republicans, 79% think the war with Iran will make the world safer, while 8% think it will make the world less safe and 1% think it will make no difference. Among independents, 25% think the war with Iran will make the world safer, while 49% think it will make the world less safe and 22% think it will make no difference. Among Democrats, a scant 2% think the war with Iran will make the world safer, while 74% think it will make the world less safe and 22 % think it will make no difference.
Fifty-four percent of voters oppose the U.S. military action against Iran, while 39% support it, essentially unchanged from Quinnipiac University’s March 9, 2026, poll. Among Republicans 86% support the war while 9% don’t. Among Democrats, only 5% support the war while 92% oppose it. Sixty-four percent of independents are against the war while 28% of independents oppose it.
When it comes to their view of President Trump’s overall performance in the White House, 38% approve and 56% disapprove of the way he’s been handling the job.
On the economy, Trump’s approval rating was at an all-time low with 38% of voters approving of what he has done while 58% disapprove.
If the November elections were held today, 51% of voters would want to see the Democratic Party win control of the U. S. House of Representatives, while 40% would want to see the Republican Party win control of the House. Among independents, 57% would want to see the Democratic Party win control, while 26% would want to see the Republican Party win control, with 17% not offering an opinion.
Given a list of personal financial concerns and asked which is the biggest one for them right now, health care costs were number one for 21% of the voters who took part in the poll, followed by food costs for 13% and mortgage or rent payments for 13%.
