The Business Council of Westchester named three area companies as recipients of the Westchester Business Champion Award.
Life Time Fitness Inc., Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Yonkers Brewing Co. received recognition for their contributions and investments to the county at a luncheon event in Tarrytown. Joe Connolly, commentator of WCBS 880 Newsradio and business reporter at the Wall Street Journal, delivered the keynote speech.
The award, which The Business Council presents quarterly, recognizes businesses that have relocated, expanded or invested significantly in Westchester. The award winners must have shown their commitment to growing, hiring and expanding their business operations.
Life Time Fitness Inc. at 1 Westchester Park Drive (formerly Gannett Drive) in Harrison will open its 201,000-square-foot athletics center in the spring. The more than $60 million complex will include studios, programs and services and feature a tennis complex with state-of-the-art amenities.
Yonkers Brewing Co. at 92 Main St. in Yonkers will soon open in the city’s downtown. Founders John Rubbo and Nick Califano plan to expand their brand by selling locally-brewed beers throughout Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Westchester, Rockland and Dutchess counties.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road in Tarrytown is a biopharmaceutical company that will add 300,000 square feet of laboratory and office space to its campus. This could create 400 new full-time jobs in Westchester.
