Companies in Bridgeport and Westport are among those receiving assistance from Connecticut”™s Small Business Express program, which is being expanded to companies with up to 100 employees, twice as many as under the original program created last fall.
Bridgeport-based FosterCo L.L.C. provides tax, accounting and professional education services and classes through the state”™s CT Works program. The company is investing $34,000 and is receiving an $18,000 state grant, adding one new hire.
Kat Burki Inc., which makes high-end bath and spa products, is receiving a $100,000 matching grant. The company is hiring five people and expanding to a larger facility.
Other Small Business Express recipients announced Friday included:
Ӣ DBS Energy Inc. of Berlin, which provides various services to utilities;
Ӣ Century Spring Inc. of Bristol, which makes springs and fasteners; and
Ӣ Mutual Housing of South Central Connecticut of New Haven, which builds affordable housing in New Haven and New London counties.
