Officials from Mount Sinai Health System’s Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health announced Sept. 8 the health system has opened a new clinical center at 745 Route 17M in Monroe.
The Selikoff Centers, members of the state Department of Health’s Occupational Health Clinic Network, provide prevention and treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses. Its physicians and health specialists also evaluate the physical, chemical, biological and social environments of workplaces and their effects on workers’ health.
The Selikoff Centers also has a location on Warburton Avenue in Yonkers.
“We welcome the opportunity to care for workers in Monroe, Orange County and other communities throughout the lower Hudson Valley,” Madelynn Azar-Cavanagh, Director for the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health, said. “While our focus is on prevention, we are here to provide excellent, patient-centered care when a work-related injury or illness does happen.”
The Selikoff Centers also have offices in Yonkers, Manhattan and Staten Island and see more than 15,000 clinical visits annually.
The Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health Lower Hudson Valley is guided by a regional advisory board of community, labor and business leaders and occupational safety and health experts.
Winston Kwa, Medical Director for the Lower Hudson Valley Region of the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health, said the center regularly treats conditions caused by exposure in the workplace, including occupational lung cancers and other diseases.
“Without proper diagnosis and management of work-related conditions, individuals lose access to many benefits and resources to which they would otherwise receive,” said Kwa, who also serves as the treating physician at the Monroe and Yonkers facilities.
Mount Sinai Health System includes seven hospital campuses and more than 140 ambulatory practices throughout Westchester County, New York City, Long Island and Florida.
