Laurence Gottlieb, the director of the Office of Economic Development for Westchester County, has been named president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC), effective Feb. 25.
Gottlieb is replacing Michael Oates, who left office Feb. 4 to become CEO of Hudson River Ventures L.L.C., a business investment fund focused on the Hudson Valley and founded in 2011. Gottlieb has held his position since 2010.
“This was not an easy decision,” Gottlieb said in a statement. “I take great pride in the work the Office of Economic Development has accomplished. I look forward to continuing my support of the county”™s economic development efforts in my new position.”
Steven Lant, chairman of HVEDC, said the HVEDC is delighted to have Gottlieb be its next leader.
“He has led a successful transformation of Westchester County”™s economic development efforts,” Lant said in a statement.
Eileen Mildenberger, executive director of the Westchester County Industrial Development Agency, will take over for Gottlieb on an interim basis effective Feb. 15. The county will actively be looking for a permanent director of economic development.
