Gregory Arcaro has been named the interim executive director of the Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District Inc. (BID).
Arcaro is replacing Steve Sansone, who left in December to become deputy commissioner of the Yonkers parks, recreation and conservation department.
The BID is a nonprofit created in 2002 to build working partnerships, encourage investment and support initiatives to improve downtown Yonkers, particularly along the waterfront. The BID is a public/private partnership with the city of Yonkers.
Arcaro has worked as a city planner in community development since 1968 and spent the last four years serving as executive director of the community planning council of Yonkers. Arcaro has also taught planning, real estate and housing development courses at Lehman College and Purchase College.
