In the wake of a machinists strike at Boeing Co., Hexcel Corp. has cut production on aircraft structures and composite materials, and the Stamford-based company bailed out on profitability estimates it had made earlier this year.
Hexcel sales to Boeing were up 12 percent in the second quarter compared with a year earlier, despite delays in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program.
In mid-July, Hexcel sold its 40 percent stake in a Tianjian, China parts manufacturer to its joint-venture partner Boeing for $22 million, recording a $12 million gain on the transaction.
