A Philadelphia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in a string of Fairfield County bank robberies.
Bomani Africa was serving time in a New Jersey state prison for robbery when he became acquainted with George Bratsenis, an inmate who was also incarcerated on robbery convictions. Following their release, the men robbed a People”™s United Bank in Darien on April 20, 2014. The duo was joined by Africa”™s son, Randi Feliciano, for the robbery of a People”™s United branch in Trumbull on Sept. 25, 2014. Africa and Feliciano robbed a First Niagara Bank branch in Stratford on Dec. 13, 2014.
Africa has been detained since his arrest on May 28, 2015. He pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery on Dec. 16, 2015; Bratsenis and Feliciano pleaded guilty to the same charge.
On April 5, 2022, Bratsenis was sentenced to 96 months of imprisonment; Feliciano was sentenced to 51 months of imprisonment on Feb. 21, 2017.
In addition to this prosecution, Africa and Bratsenis have each pleaded guilty to murder-for-hire charges in the District of New Jersey for committing a contract killing of an individual in New Jersey on May 22, 2014. They await sentencing in that case.
