Construction continues on the new $450 million Stamford Hospital, with a curtain of thermal glass increasingly sheathing the already-topped facility.
The builder, Skanska, based in Sweden with a New York City headquarters, said the unitized curtainwall window installation recently began on the north side of the hospital”™s new building. The product is being manufactured and installed by First Massey-Ferguson Neudorf Glass Inc., based in Branford.
The exterior wall is being installed using panels of approximately 8 feet by 16 feet. A total 2,805 panels will eventually enclose the building.
The hospital is expected to begin receiving patients in summer 2016. In addition to the windows, heavy electrical equipment is being installed now, a spokesman said.
This article has been updated to correct the company that is manufacturing and installing the glass.
The article regarding the “Cloak of Glass” on Stamford Hospital has incorrect information in the Stamford Advocate in the Business section dated 9-4-14. The unitized curtainwall glass system that is currently being installed onsite is NOT being provided by the Wausau Apogee Group contrary to what your article indicated. They have no involvment with this project. We are surprised that they would provide a comment for your article when they have NO involvement with this project. For the record, the unitized curtainwall glass system is being furnished and installed by First Massey-Ferguson Neudorf Glass, Inc., a local Connecticut company located in Branford, Ct. The unitized glass panels are being manufactured in Beamsville, Ontario and shipped to the jobsite ready for installation.
