ClimateHaven, a New Haven-based nonprofit working to advance technology that can help decarbonize the global economy and Kaplak Ventures, an investment firm that supports climate-oriented startups from offices in New York City and Copenhagen announced on March 26 the launch of their first cohort of climate startups from the ReGen Accelerator.
The startups that participated in the first ReGen Accelerator include renewable energy companies, carbon capture and sequestration projects, and startups that seek to improve agricultural sustainability.
Jesper Lok, Kaplak Ventures Chairman, said in a prepared statement “Through our ReGen Accelerator program, we are committed to empowering startups to scale their impact and drive meaningful change in the fight against the climate crisis.”
The first five companies include:
Global Biochar seeks to implement scalable and profitable climate mitigation solutions while addressing food insecurity, presumably through the use of charcoal as a combination carbon sequestration and fertilizer.
Tolam Earth, which is providing systems to make carbon offsets both easier for companies to acquire and more transparent regarding the impact they actually have, using the Hedera blockchain network.
TeamStack.ai, developers of an organizational tool which leverages AI to root out inefficiencies and help organizations align with their ecological, social, and corporate governance goals.
Aich2, a company that seeks to disrupt several industries though the industrial scale production of hydrogen using only renewable energy as early as 2025.
Tesleon, a creator launching an animated series called “Captain Moriah’s Map of the World” which will seek to inspire children to pursue climate activism.
Each company in the accelerator will receive two months of training, access to industry experts, a network of investors and overall assistance to their growth before participating in a May 28 Demo Day ahead of the Yale Innovation Summit.
