A new survey of businesses by the consulting firm McKinsey showed that businesses across the world have rapidly adopted Artificial Intelligence technology. 65 percent of survey respondents said that they have integrated generative AI into some aspect of their business, twice the amount who said they were making use of it in a survey just 10 months earlier.
The report describes 2024 as the year that a veritable surge of AI adoption happened after years of stagnant growth.
The survey revealed that generative AI is seeing most use within two areas. The first is in marketing sales departments, where AI can be used to generate large amounts of messaging for external communications and evaluating customer data. Â Product and service development is also an area where AI is being widely used, though the specific use cases can vary quite considerably between individual companies.
However, the survey revealed that the departments where AI had the most meaningful impact were in Human Resources where it can reduce costs and Supply Chain Management where it can drive revenue.
