A 5-year-old solar-energy design and installation company led 10 Westchester-based businesses recently ranked among the nation”™s top private companies for revenue growth since 2007.
Mercury Solar Systems Inc., a 260-employee company launched in New Rochelle in 2006 and now headquartered in Port Chester, placed 440th on Inc. magazine”™s list of the nation”™s 5,000 fastest-growing companies. It was the only company headquartered in the county to place among the top 500 companies nationally based on revenue growth from 2007 through 2010.
The annual Inc. 500/5000 survey ranks companies that are privately held, for-profit and independent ”“ not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies ”“ according to percentage revenue growth over a three-year period. The minimum revenue required for eligible companies was $100,000 for the 2007 calendar year and $2 million for 2010.
Mercury Solar earned $55 million in 2010, a 794-percent increase from 2007. The alternative-energy company hired an additional 239 employees in the same three-year period. The company had approximately $36.9 million in revenue in 2009.
Mercury Solar was rated the 14th fastest-growing company nationwide in the energy industry and the 38th fastest-growing business among private companies in the New York metropolitan area.
In White Plains, Worldwide Trade Partners L.L.C., doing business as WTP Advisors, placed 572nd on the Inc. 5000 list. The international tax advisory services company reported 2010 revenue of $11.8 million, up 572 percent since 2007.
The company was ranked 42nd nationwide for growth in the business products and services industry and 51st among metropolitan New York companies.
Founded in 2005, WTP Advisors has 69 employees, having added 52 workers in the past three years.
