ArtsFest, a weekend celebration of visual and performing arts, will be held Sept. 25 to Sept. 27 throughout New Rochelle and Pelham.
Now in its 40th year, the event, organized by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, will include tours of artists’ studios; art exhibits, programs and activities; musical performances and a classic car show at 34 venues throughout New Rochelle and Pelham. The event will also include live music, food, performances and local shopping.
The centennial birthday of composer Billy Strayhorn ”” who died in 1967, though a New Rochelle foundation bears his name ”” will be celebrated with a screening of the documentary “Lush Life” with director Robert Levi and a special exhibit at the Museum of Arts & Culture on the book “Strayhorn: An Illustrated Life.”
“This is NRCA”™s 40th anniversary, so we”™re really excited to offer a variety of arts experiences this year,” Theresa Kump Leghorn, president of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, said.
Participants in this year’s event include Trolley Tours, Backstreet Gallery, BID Grand Market, Billboards Hacker, The Capoeira Center, Charles Fazzino Studio, Coleman School of Dance, Dance Connection, Fritz & Hollander, High Brook Studios, Media Loft, Mesh Print Studio, Westchester Yoga Arts, Mayte Vicens Dance Theater among other local businesses.

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was created in 1975 by the New Rochelle City Council. It promotes the arts through exhibitions, theatrical productions, concerts, dance performances and other events.
