Former WVOX morning man Bob Marrone is likely to return to drive-time radio with WFAS”™s AM station, pending a finalized contract with Cumulus Media, which owns the station.
Marrone, who was recently named the executive director of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, would continue in his role with the chamber if the deal goes through as planned. He retired as host of WVOX 1460AM”™s “Good Morning Westchester” in 2012, but has since appeared on a chamber program.
WFAS”™s FM station, 103.9, announced last month it would move its broadcast facilities from Hartsdale to the Bronx and rebrand as an “urban music” station. But while the company”™s FM broadcast was leaving Westchester County behind, WFAS initiated talks with Marrone to take over the morning program only several years after it had reportedly aimed at a younger audience.
The New Rochelle blog Talk of the Sound reported Marrone would take over duties in July but that a contract with the host had yet to be signed. Marrone, reached by phone, said he was awaiting word from Cumulus executives. If a contract is completed and signed, Marrone may take the reins next month, according to the chamber.
Bob Mar one is a great broadcaster Bob Mar one is a great intellect whose concern for people has been missed since his departure from the airways. His return is a boon for everyone who listens. GOOD LUCK MR.MARONE.
