Ethan Allen, a Danbury-based home fashion retailer, will launch a virtual art gallery Sunday featuring pieces by well-known 20th century artists.
Calling it the Modern Masters Collection, Ethan Allen will sell lithographs of works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Salvador DalÃ, Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger and Joan Miró.
The 81 artworks in the Modern Masters Collection will be available to view at ethanallen.com starting at 7 p.m. Sunday or by visiting any Ethan Allen store.
Each piece was printed by a craftsman, and the original artists were often heavily involved in the production of the lithographs, according to an Ethan Allen press release. Some of the pieces are signed by the artists, and each has a certificate of provenance that is dated and numbered. All of the pieces are framed.
“The artistry and beauty is breathtaking, and they’re the reason we were inspired to introduce our first-ever modern art collection,” said Farooq Kathwari, CEO of Ethan Allen, in a statement. “It is thrilling to bring this diverse group of rare and collectible artwork together and to make it available online to our clients.”
The starting price of the Modern Masters Collection is $589. Stock of the pieces ranges from a dozen to more than one hundred.
