A panel recently selected Richmond, Va.-based wildlife artist Guy Crittenden”™s depiction of three northern shovelers as the winner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection”™s 2014-2015 Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Duck Stamp Art Contest. Crittenden”™s painting was chosen from 15 entries submitted by artists from across the country, including three from Connecticut.
The national stamp program to date has raised $1.2 million toward the restoration of 3,500 acres of duck-friendly wetlands in the U.S. Town clerks sell the stamps locally for $13 each.
