A collection of paintings by young artists supported by The Arc of Ulster-Greene is on display through Aug. 3 at the Gardiner branch of Ulster Savings Bank.
The Arc of Ulster-Greene is a nonprofit founded in 1956 by parents who wanted the same opportunities for their disabled children as their nondisabled peers. Its mission is to offer people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities opportunities to have full lives.
As part of its services to about 1,300 clients ranging in age from preschool through adulthood, the organization runs a program called The Arc Gallery. It is a collection of works produced by the artists who are associated with and studying at The Arc of Ulster-Greene. The artwork is on display at the organization”™s administrative offices or on rotation at various local art galleries and businesses such as Ulster Savings.
All artwork in The Arc Gallery is for sale. The artist receives 50 percent of the proceeds and the other half is returned to the program for the purchase of art supplies.
