Philadelphia-based equity firm Versa Capital Management LLC has formed Eastern Outfitters LLC as the holding company parent of its newly acquired Eastern Mountain Sports and Bob’s Stores assets.
The move follows the April announcement that Vestis Retail Group, a Versa Capital-owned unit that owned those chains as well as the Sports Chalet chain, had filed for bankruptcy protection and reorganization under Chapter 11. Sports Chalet”™s stores have been closed.
Eastern Mountain and Bob”™s will remain headquartered in Meriden. Outdoor equipment and clothing retailer Eastern Mountain Sports maintains about 65 stores, including outlets in Danbury, Fairfield and Stamford, while family and footwear apparel retailer Bob”™s has 35 stores, including those in Danbury, Fairfield and Norwalk.
Mark Walsh, who was CEO at Vestis, will have the same title at the new holding company.
