Nordic Cryotherapy, a center that will offer both whole body cryotherapy and localized treatments, will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony on Friday, June 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at 31 Mill Road in Eastchester.
Whole body cryotherapy is a procedure that uses liquid nitrogen vapors to lower the skin”™s surface temperature.
According to the center”™s founder, Yonkers resident Marie O”™Connor, some of the ailments cryotherapy is used to treat include autoimmune and neurological disorders, joint pain and athletic recovery. Treatments can also aide in weight loss, wrinkle reduction and stimulating collagen production. Benefits include higher levels of energy and the burning of between 500 to 800 calories in a three-minute session.
O”™Connor is a registered nurse in New York and Connecticut who received her doctorate degree in nursing from Sacred Heart University and a masters in nursing administration from Kaplan University. Most recently, O”™Connor worked at Stamford Hospital and White Plains Hospital, as well as for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield as a care consultant.
Health screenings will be provided for each client before any services are performed. Individuals are encouraged to speak with their health care provider before receiving treatment.
Nordic Cryotherapy will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
