Following its Rising Stars program, The Business Council of Westchester recently announced this month it will launch StarPower, a five-session, bi-monthly professional training program open to all honorees of the Business Council’s Rising Stars program, which annually recognizes 40 Westchester business leaders under the age of 40.
Beginning Oct. 29, participants will meet every other month until June 6 at the Business Council of Westchester’s headquarters at 800 Westchester Ave. in Rye Brook. The program begins with a half-hour of networking at 8:30 a.m. followed by a two-hour training session led by Laura Powers, president of Mount Kisco-based Powers Career Coaching, LLC.
Business council officials said the program will help participants build their own brand, build relationships with colleagues, clients and the community, and address challenges in leadership style.
Business Council President and CEO Marsha Gordon said the program will give participants the chance to grow professionally.
“This was specially developed as an initiative of the Rising Stars Leadership Council to build the capacity of the Rising Stars alumni to serve as future leaders,” Gordon said. “It”™s an opportunity for the Rising Stars alumni to develop personal and professional skills in a business setting that is conducive to growth.”
Participants can schedule a 20-minute, one-on-one follow up phone consultation with Powers after completing the course.
The Oct. 29 session is entitled “Self-Awareness/Assessment & Self-Management: The Foundation of Successful Career Leadership.” The remaining sessions will be held Dec. 10, Feb. 4, 2016, April 14, 2016, and June 6, 2016.
“This will be very empowering for them,” Powers said. “As Rising Stars, these professionals have already been acknowledged as successful leaders. This program will ask, ‘Is your star power operating at full capacity?'”
Rising Stars honorees interested in participating can contact Business Council of Westchester Director of Special Events Amanda DePalma at 914-948-2110.
