The city of New Rochelle’s Department of Development and the development partnership RDRXR will hold a downtown public workshop at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cross-Cultural Solutions to discuss the city’s 2016 comprehensive plan.
The city is hosting several public meetings under the EnvisioNR 2016 banner throughout the spring and summer. Discussions will be held regarding the city’s transportation, utilities, land use, recreation and housing policies. In a press release, city officials said the plan will serve as framework for future development reflective of current and anticipated environmental, economic and social conditions.
Also discussed during the meeting will be the city’s downtown redevelopment project. New Rochelle in December signed a master development agreement with RDRXR, a partnership between RXR Realty LLC and Renaissance Downtowns, in what city officials said is the most significant economic development initiative in city’s history.
EnvisioNR 2016Â is an initiative of the city of New Rochelle in conjunction with the Pace University Land Use Law Center and BFJ Planning, a Manhattan-based consulting firm. The initiative is partially funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Cleaner Greener Communities Program.
The city’s last comprehensive plan was completed in 1995.
