A state economic development agency recently announced that up to $12 million in grant money will be used to invest in projects to enhance tourism in New York.
Empire State Development has allocated the money for Market NY grants, which will be available to applicants from businesses, municipalities and nonprofits through the fifth round of the state’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative. In applying, organizations must demonstrate how they will use the money to “promote and advance the tourism goals of their Regional Council”™s strategic plan,” Empire State Development said.
The $12 million in grants breaks down into two categories: Up to $5 million will go toward regional tourism marketing and about $7 million will go toward tourism facility funding.
Applications must be submitted by July 31.
