Bruce family program melds art and science
Greenwich-based Bruce Museum is featuring ARTventure, a new museum family day program with a scavenger hunt incorporating art and science, Feb. 22, 1-4 p.m., 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich. Participants will follow a series of clues through the “wilderness” of the museum”™s art exhibition.
BlumShapiro announces new partners
BlumShapiro, an accounting and business-consulting firm with offices in Shelton and West Hartford, named two new partners, Thomas M. Blumetti and Nikoleta D. McTigue.
Blumetti of Southington is a member of the firm”™s manufacturing, distribution and retail industry group with more than 20 years of industry experience. He holds a bachelor”™s in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
McTigue of Old Lyme has 17 years experience auditing municipal and nonprofit organizations. She holds a bachelor”™s in economics and accounting from the University of Tirana in Albania and a master”™s in professional accounting from the University of Hartford.
Connecticut Children”™s Medical Center receives $1.5 million
Hartford-based United Technologies Corp. (UTC), a provider of technology products and services to building and aerospace industries, donated $1.5 million to the Hartford-based Connecticut Children”™s Medical Center, which operates clinics in Danbury, Shelton and Fairfield. The donation will support the construction and staffing of the United Technologies Family Resource Center, located within the hospital”™s main campus.
Landscape firm hits slopes to fight cancer
Ridgefield-based New England Landscape & Management Inc. is participating in the American Cancer Society (ACS) “Hope on the Slopes” event, Feb. 22, at Jay Peak, Vt. Hope on the Slopes is a ski and snowboarding event held at venues nationwide to fight cancer. Larry and Sherrie Ruschmeyer, the firm”™s owners, sponsor Team Nick Strong, requesting that all funds raised contribute to fighting ocular melanoma. This year marks the firm”™s fourth consecutive participation.

JLL appoints Aronson for tristate property management
Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a commercial real estate and investment management firm with an office in Stamford, appointed Linda Aronson to lead the firm”™s property management group in the tristate market, with a focus on business development. Aronson most recently served as managing director for the firm”™s property management services for suburban tristate markets.
Morris Media Group announces winners
Ridgefield-based Morris Media Group, a publishing company, announced the winners of its 2015 Green Awards, honoring businesses, nonprofits and individuals who have impacted the community in positive ways. Winners include Western Connecticut State University, Sustainable Westchester and Daphne Dixon. Judges included Rich Lechner, Kirsten Peckerman and Alex Mochary Bergstein.

SHU”™s Discovery Gala honors Singh
Fairfield”™s Sacred Heart University (SHU) is hosting its 26th annual Discovery Gala with Ravi Singh as its honoree, March 28, Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center, Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Ave., Fairfield. Last year, the gala raised more than $750,000 for SHU”™s scholarship programs.
Singh, president of TruMid Financial LLC, an electronic bond-trading firm, is being honored for his role in the communications industry.

250 years of wedding dress fashion
The Fairfield Museum and History Center is opening an exhibition titled “Fashion & Fantasy: 250 Years of Wedding Dresses,” Feb. 19 to May 31, 370 Beach Road, Fairfield. The exhibition will open to the public Feb. 19 at the museum after Dark, 6-8 p.m., a wine and cheese event. Also featured are wedding-related objects dating to 1839.
1,800 monkeys collected for Valentine drive
More than 1,8000 stuffed monkeys were collected in Shelton for J-Cuts”™ ninth annual “Monkey Love” Valentine drive, an effort to benefit abused, neglected, impoverished, sick and adopted children. The main drop-off location was J-Cuts barbershop, 505 Howe Ave., Shelton.
Children benefited by the drive are serviced by: Milford and Lower Naugatuck Valley (Shelton) Boys & Girls Clubs; Yale-New Haven Children”™s Hospital in New Haven; TEAM Inc. in Derby and Ansonia; BHcare”™s Center for Domestic Violence Services in Ansonia; Griffin Hospital of Derby; the Department of Children & Families in Milford; International Institute of CT, Refugee Services division of Bridgeport; and the Shelton Lion”™s Club.
