The newly rebuilt Playland boardwalk will be opened to the public at a noon ceremony Thursday, according to the county executive”™s office.
County Executive Rob Astorino will join Bill McNeice, president of Titan Construction, and Scott Donnelly, project manager of the Department of Public Works, at the ceremony.
The boardwalk was damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and the section from the Pier Restaurant and Tiki Bar to the miniature golf course had to be completely rebuilt before the opening of the 2013 Playland season, Astorino”™s office said.
The county decided to rebuild the remainder of the boardwalk, to the end of Rye Town Park, with the same wood, Brazilian hardwood, that the county used in the other rebuilt section.
