Datto Inc., a Norwalk-based data backup company, was recently approved by the State Bond Commission for $6 million in financial assistance to expand its current space at Merritt 7 office park by the end of the year, according to a press release.
The company, at 101 Merritt 7, will receive a subsidized low-interest loan from the state Department of Economic and Community Development to establish a $15 million global headquarters in the city. The remaining cost will be covered by the company’s revenues.
Datto has grown exponentially since it launched in 2007, reporting revenue growth of $6 million in 2010 to $50 million last year, said Camille Currie, public relations manager at Datto.
Datto, which recently completed a $25 million round of venture capital financing, currently employs about 200 in its Norwalk office and 245 globally. The company added three locations last year, including a manufacturing facility in Monroe and data offices in Toronto and the United Kingdom.
Last year, Datto hired 136 employees, and it plans to add at least 250 jobs over the next two years.
Datto works with over 5,000 companies globally to resell its backup and disaster recovery solutions to businesses.
