Norwalk Community College”™s annual legislative breakfast will be held Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Culinary Arts Dining Room on the West Campus.
Brendan Sharkey, speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, will address legislative issues, joined by legislators representing Fairfield County.
David L. Levinson, who is both NCC president and vice president of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education; and Moira Lyons, NCC director of community and government relations, will brief legislators on what they say is the need for “more state funding to serve students and continue the college”™s mission to create a skilled workforce.”
Agenda topics include:
Ӣ NCCӪs partnership with J.M. Wright Tech High School;
Ӣ NCC campus expansion;
”¢ the “Transform CSCU 2020” program; and
Ӣ college affordability.
Besides Sharkey, legislators slated to attend include regional state Sens. Toni Boucher, Bob Duff and Carlo Leone; and Reps. Fred Camillo, Kim Fawcett, Livvy Floren, Dan Fox, Gerald Fox, Tony Hwang, Gail Lavielle, Bruce Morris, Tom O”™Dea, Chris Perone, John Shaban, Jonathan Steinberg, William Tong and Terrie Wood.
