The Volunteer Center of United Way in Tarrytown is planning nearly 30 service projects with other regional nonprofits and corporations throughout Westchester, Rockland, Ulster and Orange counties for Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 18.
Service projects are targeting efforts that fight poverty, hunger, homelessness and inequality. Activities will also include an “I Have a Dream” craft project at the Carver Center in Port Chester, the Yonkers Public Library and The Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics, Inc. in Tarrytown. Canned food drives will take place at HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle and the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry. The Ulster County Habitat for Humanity will organize restoration projects in Kingston, and the YWCA of Yonkers will hold a health and fitness fun day.
