Chef Anthony Goncalves is closing for a month his restaurant atop the Ritz-Carlton Westchester in White Plains for a redesign project that coincides with the upscale dining and event spot”™s sixth anniversary.
Goncalves opened his restaurant on the 42nd floor of the Ritz-Carlton in 2007 with business partner Louis Cappelli, developer of the Ritz residential towers and hotel on downtown Renaissance Square. Now called 42 The Restaurant, its space, decor and food and beverage offerings will be redesigned for “a more contemporary-casual dining experience,” Goncalves said in a press release.
The chef said 42”™s makeover will draw on elements of his former White Plains venues, Trotters and Trotters Tavern, as well as the now-closed Bellota@42.
A new menu will incorporate both his New American cuisine with Iberian influences and Portuguese and Spanish tapas dishes. The restaurant also will feature a new lounge menu.
42 The Restaurant will be closed to diners from Aug. 8 through Sept. 9 and will reopen on Sept. 10. It will be available, however, for private events and off-site catering during the redesign.
“Whether you are in your early twenties or even seventies, everyone wants to experience the excitement of going out to an entertaining, chic and sexy venue that”™s the place to be seen,” Goncalves said. He plans to create that space with 42”™s latest evolution.
If it means the return of what Anthony offered at Trotters, that’s great news. Trotters has been sorely missed.
