IKEA’s New Haven store plugged in the largest photovoltaic array in Connecticut, a rooftop system totaling more than 3,900 panels and capable of generating nearly a megawatt of power.
Gerhlicher Solar America Corp. installed the system, with the company a Springfield, N.J.-based division of Gehrlicher Solar AG in Germany.
IKEA ranks fourth in U.S. corporate solar installations after Walmart, Costco and Kohl’s, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association, with no Connecticut-based company ranking among the top 20.
