Eight executives from Bigelow Tea in Fairfield recently rebuilt a patio for a Kennedy Center Inc. group home in Milford among other minor construction repairs.
Via the Trumbull-based nonprofit rehabilitation organization”™s Adopt-A-Group Home program, businesses, civic organizations and community partners are invited to maintain one of 16 group homes within New Haven and Fairfield counties.
“Each of the group homes provides a 24-hour supervised setting for as many as eight individuals and is structured with their specialized needs in mind,” said Martin D. Schwartz, president and CEO of The Kennedy Center, in a statement. “Proper maintenance to our group homes is vital to The Kennedy Center and its staff to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for the residents. Funding provided by the state is limited in this area and we are truly grateful to Bigelow Tea for partnering with us on this beautification project. It was also a great way to effectively promote team building within their corporation.”
Bigelow executives painted and worked at landscaping on the Wayne Road Home in Milford, a project they began in April.
The company has implemented a number of sustainable elements into its Fairfield headquarters and organizes the Bigelow Tea Community Challenge yearly, which raises funds for organizations like Junior Achievement.
