An acclaimed golf instructor has sued a former Armonk training center for allegedly violating a license deal.
Jim McLean Enterprises Inc. accused COR Â Performance LLC of breach of contract, in a lawsuit filed on May 21 in Westchester Supreme Court.
“COR has not made a single payment,” the complaint states, “in breach of the clear, unambiguous terms of the agreement.”
Jim McLean is a former professional golfer who also worked as a club pro at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Quaker Ridge Country Club and Westchester Country Club. He went on to create a training method he calls the X-Factor that uses video and radar technology to analyze golf swings and develop powerful strokes. In 1993, he opened The Jim McLean Golf School at the Doral Resort in Miami, and since then has licensed several schools worldwide.
COR Sports Physical Therapy was incorporated in 2012 and COR Performance was established in 2022, at a facility on Business Park Drive alongside Interstate 684.
In 2024, McLean licensed his teaching methods and rights for operating a Jim McClean Golf Academy to COR Performance for four years, beginning in 2025, according to the complaint. COR agreed to pay $50,000 a year, 5% of its gross revenue, and pay McClean’s hotel and transportation costs when he visited the Armonk academy.
Jim McLean Golf School of Westchester opened under the direction of golf instructor Chad Vaughn.
But COR Performance failed to pay for the rights, the complaint states, and in August 2025 both sides agreed to terminate the deal.
Now McClean is demanding $55,068 in fees and royalties, including a $3,150 reimbursement for travel expenses.
At some point, the Armonk business was renamed COR Performance Golf.
Vaughn, who is now affiliated with a White Plains golf training business, did not reply to an email asking for his side of the story.
