From September 29th through October 5th, all Big Y supermarket locations will host an on-site multi-vaccine clinic for all customers, employees and their families. No appointments are necessary.
All stores will offer seasonal flu and the new 2025-2026 COVID vaccine and updated booster. Stores with an on-site pharmacy also offer a variety of vaccines including pneumonia, shingles, Tdap, Hepatitis A and B, meningococcal, RSV, MMR and HPV. Further details are available on bigy.com where each location’s specific times are listed (click here for clinic dates and times).
This community-wide event spans every one of Big Y’s 76 locations throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut including Table & Vine. All locations, including those that have a pharmacy, will have a specific clinic day during Big Vax Week where patients who receive a vaccine from their trained pharmacists will receive a Big Y Coupon for $5 off a minimum $25 purchase.
Big Y Pharmacy teams administered over 16,000 flu and COVID vaccines during their 2024 Big Y Big Vax Week. “Our Big Y Pharmacy is extremely proud to be able to host Big Vax Week again. It’s remarkable how important this event has become since its origin in 2021,” said Elaine Zimnoski, immunization coordinator for Big Y Pharmacy & Wellness Centers. “Numerous respiratory illnesses, such as COVID, Flu, RSV and Pneumonia, have become more prominent since the COVID pandemic. We recognize the crucial role of providing accessibility to these immunizations to better protect our communities for the fall and winter.”
An insurance card is required to receive vaccines at clinic locations. Big Y administers flu vaccines for ages 5 years and up and COVID vaccines for ages 12 years and up. Big Y follows state and federal approved age limits for all other vaccines. In addition to a full array of prescriptions, consultation and pharmacy services, Big Y’s pharmacy team has been administering vaccines for many years. Since its inception, Big Y’s vaccination program has continued to grow, administering over 425,000 doses of various vaccines in the past nine years. They have held clinics at schools, senior centers, manufacturing facilities, business offices and worked with City and State Departments of Public Health.
According to Big Y’s director of pharmacy, Mike Pashko, PharmD, RPh, “Vaccination continues to be a safe, effective and powerful tool against preventable disease. Big Y has taken steps to ensure that FDA-approved vaccines are conveniently available for patients in the communities where they work and live. By getting vaccinated, you protect yourself as well as others.”
Big Y Foods, Inc., is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England.
