The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, which rebranded as “The Pantry” leads northern Westchester in Hunger Action Month this September. It will lead the charge for Hunger Action Month (HAM) in northern Westchester County, joining food banks and food pantries across the county and across the U.S. to raise awareness and take action against food insecurity.
The new name, The Pantry, represents the organization’s growing reach and ongoing mission to nourish neighbors in need. “This new chapter, as The Pantry, better represents our commitment to all of northern Westchester,” said Trina Ward Fontaine, executive director. “Hunger Action Month is our opportunity to unite and take real steps toward a hunger-free future.”
Across the 21 communities supported by The Pantry, one in three residents struggles with poverty or lives paycheck to paycheck, making them vulnerable to food insecurity. Seniors, adults and many children may not know where their next meal will come from.
To mobilize support and community engagement, The Pantry is launching a campaign of activities throughout September.
Residents are encouraged to patronize local business partners, including in Mount Kisco: Exit 4 Food Hall, Four Seasons Flower Shop, Mount Kisco Seafood, Stone Fire, and The Ambleside Pub, as well as oHHo in Bedford (featuring Pizza Girls), which are running promotions where a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Pantry.

The Pantry envisions a northern Westchester community where everyone has enough nutritious food and is empowered to thrive. It serves an average of 700 families every week from 21 local communities, which numbers over 2,000 individuals. The Pantry is a mostly volunteer-led organization that relies on the generosity of volunteers, neighbors and donors to unload food deliveries, stock shelves, pack produce, rescue food from local food donors, make home deliveries, assist guests at distributions and provide much-needed funding to support its operations.
