United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut joined with corporate partners across Fairfield County and in the Greater Bridgeport area today, June 5 to carry out their annual Day of Action.
“Originally known as ‘Day of Caring,’ this tradition began at United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut in 1994 with a mission to spread the value of volunteerism while increasing awareness of community needs,” reads a statement about the occasion from United Way. “Today, Day of Action bridges the gap between our donors and other nonprofit agencies by demonstrating the difference that an entire day of volunteerism can make in our communities.”
More than 20 corporations are participating across 22 sites. Volunteers will provide between three and six hours of work completing projects or assisting in operations.
Fairfield County activities include M&T Bank volunteers serving at Norwalk’s Liberation Programs – Families in Recovery and Genworth employees volunteering at Stillwater Farm in Stamford.
