Childcare businesses throughout the state are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $25,000. The funds are supported by a partnership between the WBDC and the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood.
The fall 2023 application round saw $734,647 in funding given to 60 grantees. Since the program’s launch in 2020 $6.65 million has been provided for the benefit of childcare businesses. Across the 603 grants given during the program close to 70% of participants reported increased revenues and profit.
“Child care is the backbone of our state’s economy, providing mothers and fathers peace of mind to go to work knowing their children are cared for. It also provides critical early education to our youngest citizens and the future of our state,” said WBDC CEO Fran Pastore in a press release announcing the latest round of applications. “This program is a lifeline, offering current and aspiring child care businesses the crucial support and resources they need to not just survive but truly flourish. We’re thrilled to see the transformative impact of this grant program, combined with our entrepreneurial education offerings, on these early childhood businesses.”
