For those who might find themselves in the Boston area on New Year’s Day, the historic Brattle Theater in Cambridge is starting the new year with vintage comedy via Groucho, Chico, Harpo and Zeppo Marx.
“Our annual Marx Brothers Marathon returns with a quadruple feature of anarchic hijinks featuring the Brothers taking on roles that range from heads of state to lowly stowaways,” announced the theater on its website.
The big screen fun begins at 12:30 p.m. with the zany siblings running amok in a Florida hotel in “The Cocoanuts” (1929), followed by their entanglement with gangster aboard a cruise ship in “Monkey Business” (1931), their destruction of higher education in “Horse Feathers” (1932) and their parody of war-hungry government leaders in “Duck Soup” (1933).
More information on the all-day funfest and ticket sales are available on the Brattle Theater’s website.
