Barbra Streisand fans will get a unique double feature treat at Pleasantville”™s Jacob Burns Film Center on Sept. 20 with a rare big screen presentation of “Funny Girl” and a Q&A on the star with film and music historian Dan Callahan.
Streisand repeated her 1964 Broadway triumph as Fanny Brice in the 1968 film adaptation of “Funny Girl.” Under the direction of William Wyler, Streisand”™s film debut won the Academy Award as Best Actress, while the lavish musical earned eight Oscar nominations and was the highest-grossing American film in 1968.
Callahan covers Streisand film and music career in his new book “Bing and Billie and Frank and Ella and Judy and Barbra,” which celebrates six of the most influential popular singers of the 20th century. Callahan will have copies of his new book after the screening.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $15 for Burns Film Center members and $20 for nonmembers. More information is available on the venue”™s website.
