Yorktown”™s municipal government has approved an agreement that will enable the full reconstruction of the intersection at Route 118 and Underhill Avenue.
The project”™s developer, Underhill Soundview LLC, also committed $225,000 to the town to fund public park improvements. The deal is part of the developer”™s renovation of the former Soundview Preparatory School campus at 370 Underhill Ave. into the mixed-use Underhill Farms development with 148 residential units, 11,000 square feet of commercial space and the preservation of the property”™s historic mansion.
Underhill Soundview committed over $625,000 toward the estimated $1.2 million cost of redesigning and building the new intersection, and the company plans to seek approximately $600,000 in tax abatements from the Westchester County Industrial Development Agency to complete the project”™s funding.
“We know that this intersection is outdated,” said Supervisor Tom Diana. “This agreement with Underhill Soundview helps our town accomplish two important goals: upgrading our streets and improving our public parks.”
