Fairfield First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick announced the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain will open in the town, but without a drive-thru feature that initially scuttled the proposed eatery.
In June 2021, plans were floated to bring Chick-fil-A to the former site of Joe”™s American Bar and Grill at 750 Post Road. But the town”™s Plan and Zoning Commission (PZC) rejected the proposal six months later, citing complaints from residents that having a drive-thru at the site would add to onerous traffic volumes on the Post Road.
Kupchick stated the property”™s owners submitted a new permit for a Chick-fil-A restaurant that would only accommodate interior commerce and not have a drive-thru feature. This permit does not require PZC approval, and the property owners will not be able to add a drive-thru later.
No date has been set on when the eatery will open. The Post Road site also includes a vacant barbershop, and the property owners will need a permit from the town to demolish it.
