The Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville has been chosen by the National Endowment for the Arts to receive an art works grant of $30,000. The grant will support five film series that shed light on marginalized communities and lesser-known issues. The umbrella title of the initiative is Power of Film: Community Engagement and Dialogue.
“This meaningful support allows us to continue to serve our 10,000 members and over 200,000 visitors each year and create new, innovative programs for our fellows and students,” said Edie Demas, executive director of the film center.
“These NEA-supported projects and institutions, such as this one for the Jacob Burns Film Center, are good examples of how the arts build stronger and more vibrant communities, improve well-being, prepare our children to succeed, and increase the quality of our lives,” said Jane Chu, chairman of the national organization.
