James Amendola, general manager, Cosentino Center ”“ Westchester, Mt. Kisco, and a thousand-pound slab of his company”™s Juperana Bordeaux stone

Three-hundred people attended the Cosentino Center ”“ Westchester opening recently in the Spanish company”™s new Mount Kisco showroom and warehouse, more than a half-acre under one roof.

James Amendola, general manager, said Cosentino, with operations in 60 countries and 2,200 global employees, did its homework before selecting Westchester for its newest shop, No. 22 in the U.S. for Cosentino and one of 82 around the world.

“They keep a finger on the pulse,” Amendola said. “The geography where we are means we can serve all of New York City, Long Island, southern Connecticut, central and northern New Jersey and some of eastern Pennsylvania. We”™re very well centered in an attractive area.”

Cosentino sells to the trade, although it also encourages tradespeople to bring in clients. The space is polished and stunning and features a fully outfitted classroom.

Trade oriented means construction oriented for Cosentino and that industry has been battered in the last five years. “I think we”™re on the up and up,” Amendola said. “We”™re not out of the recession, but we are starting to see commercial business surpass our goals. We”™re seeing a more optimistic attitude. The more homeowners and consumers that get comfortable, the more they”™ll start to spend. Cosentino would not have made this investment if it did not see the same thing.

Among Cosentino”™s offerings are its Silestone, which is 93 percent quartz bound with a resin binder. Cosentino”™s Eco line contains 75 percent post-consumer, post-industrial-use stone bound with a corn-based resin; the Iron Ore Eco product lines the men”™s room, sparkling like a clear night sky. Other lines include Scalea natural stone, Sensa granite, Martique marble and the Prexury line of countertops cut from dynamic patterns of mineral, fossil and petrified wood. Cosentino stones come in three thicknesses for a variety of uses: 1-3 cms.

Cosentino calls itself the global leader in natural stone, quartz and recycled surfaces. It operates in Mount Kisco as Cosentino North America. The address is 333 N. Bedford Road.

“The Westchester center is a fantastic addition to our nationwide group of showrooms and distribution centers,” said Lorenzo Marquez, Cosentinos”™ vice president for marketing. “We felt it was critical to have a foundation in the greater New York area, a leading hub for innovative architecture and design.”
