The U.S. Supreme Court this morning announced it has decided on a 9-0 vote not to restrict the availability of the abortion drug mifepristone. The court ruled that the pro-life forces that filed suit to block availability of the drug did not have the standing to bring their action and did not show that they had been harmed by the availability of the drug. The pro-life groups challenged the decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make the drug widely available. It is used in approximately two-thirds of the abortions carried out in the U.S. Pro-choice forces had feared that the Supreme Court would restrict availability of the drug in the wake of its overturning of Roe v. Wade.
