Donald Trump indicted again: A new indictment has been returned by a federal grand jury in Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and stay in power. The new indictment had been sought by Special Counsel Jack Smith and supersedes the existing indictment. Smith sought the new indictment in order to eliminate material that might run afoul of the Supreme Court’s ruling that criminal actions taken by Trump that can be classified as being part of his official duties cannot be prosecuted. Arlington altercation: Against the background of Donald Trump having disrespected U.S. service members and called members of the military who were killed in the line of duty “suckers,” Trump’s campaign had Trump participate in a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. National Public Radio reports that when two of Trump’s campaign aides tried to take photos for the campaign they were stopped by an official of the military cemetery. It is against the rules of the cemetery for graveside photos to be taken for political use. NPR reported that the Trump campaign officials got into a physical and verbal fight with the official of Arlington National Cemetery. Â
Fake endorsements: CNN reports that it and the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) have found that the identities and photos of real people have been stolen and were posted on Elon Musk’s internet site X along with fake endorsements of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. CNN reported that it and CIR found there were 56 instances where photos and identities, usually of attractive women, were posted along with endorsements of the Republican ticket. . CNN said it could not be determined who was behind the fake endorsement postings.
West Bank: Israel says it killed at least nine Palestinian militants in today’s attack in the West Bank. Israel said its forces went into three camps in the northern portion of the West Bank. Israeli forces also surrounded the city of Jenin. The Palestinian Health Ministry says the Israelis had attacked a hospital. Israel said the hospital was being used as a headquarters for Palestinian militants. Â
Interview: Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have agreed to appear for a televised interview on CNN. The interview is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 p.m. New York Time. It will take place in Savannah, Georgia. The interviewer will be Dana Bash of CNN. Harris and Walz have been on a campaign bus tour of Georgia.
Drone attack: A Ukrainian drone attack set off a fire at a Russian oil depot in Russia’s Rostov region. A Russian official said there were no casualties but that three oil tanks were burning. Last week, Ukrainian drones attacked a different Russian oil storage facility and that fire was still burning today. Russia said some of the Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed.
