MAHOPAC BANK EXEC PROMOTED
BILL DUNKEL, commercial loan officer and relationship manager for the Putnam County market of Mahopac Bank, has been promoted to regional vice president of the bank.
Dunkel has more than 15 years of experience in banking, all with Mahopac Bank where he began his career as a management trainee. He handles all commercial loans in excess of $500,000 and manages a more than $84 million loan portfolio.
He was recently selected by the New York Business Development Corp. (NYBDC) as the 2013 Lender of the Year by a selection of commercial lenders throughout the state. He was recognized for his efforts to promote access to capital for small businesses.
The Brewster resident received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and management science from SUNY Cortland and worked in the construction industry before joining Mahopac Bank, which has 15 offices in Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester counties.
CEREBRAL PALSY RECEIVES $13,000
THE EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATION OF WESTCHESTER donated $13,000 in 2013 to update Cerebral Palsy of Westchester”™s (CPW) Assistive Technology Center in Rye Brook. The sensory room, equipped with new technologies, will bring instrumental enhancements to the learning process for the adults and children with developmental disabilities. These special technologies will make it easier for individuals who don”™t have the normal use of their senses to touch, see, hear and smell like never before in their lives.
The Executive Association originated as a small group of individuals working in family-owned business. Its goal is to provide members an opportunity to discuss their business challenges with others working in similar environments while providing networking opportunities among the members.
In the 29 years since its inception The Executive Association evolved into a business networking association of entrepreneurs with a philanthropic heart. It holds two to three fundraising events a year and donates all proceeds to local charitable organizations.
ENTA HAS NEW DIRECTOR OF REGULATORY AFFAIRS
Tarrytown-based ENT & ALLERGY ASSOCIATES L.L.P. (ENTA) has hired ASTARA CREWS as its new director of regulatory affairs, a department that creates, reviews, implements and oversees the plans that ensure medical and regulatory compliance, protects patient health information and adheres to all laws relating to HIPAA. Crews will develop educational tools, as well as lead seminars for the practice”™s physicians and staff. She will also craft clinical guidelines and documentation standards to ensure patient care.
Crews has extensive experience in regulatory compliance, revenue cycle management and documentation coding. A graduate of Lehman College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology, biology and chemistry before earning her Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) degree in health law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Crews began her 15-year career as a revenue cycle manager, spending a decade working at a number of top hospitals in increasingly senior compliance roles. She holds a CPC Certification from the American Association of Professional Coders, a CHC Certification from the HealthCare Compliance Association and is currently working toward her CCS Certification from the American Health Information Management Association.
CARDIOLOGIST RECEIVES AWARD
DR. DAVID CZINER of Armonk, a WESTMED Medical Group cardiologist, was recently presented with the Dr. Leonard Finkelstein Excellence Award for 2013.
Named for Dr. Leonard Finkelstein, a founding member of The Westchester Medical Group (WESTMED”™s former name), who practiced internal medicine in Westchester County for more than 35 years, the award is presented to the physician who most embodies his ideals and demonstrates the highest level of clinical quality with compassion and selfless devotion to patient care.
Cziner received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and was a senior fellow in noninvasive cardiology at NYU”™s Tisch Hospital. He is chief emeritus of the department of cardiology at White Plains Hospital and is also on staff at Greenwich Hospital.
LAW PARTNER NAMED TO HALL OF FAME
BERNARD A. KROOKS of Littman Krooks L.L.P. has been recognized as an entrant into the Estate Planning Hall of Fame by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC). He is the recipient of an Accredited Estate Planner (Distinguished) Nominee designation for 2014.
Krooks, a founding partner of Littman Krooks with offices in New York City, White Plains and Fishkill and chair of its elder law and special needs department, will be one of seven professionals to receive this award in 2014, which recognizes those individuals who have made outstanding lifetime achievements and contributions to the practice of estate planning.
He was named vice chairman of the Elder Law Committee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and Trusts & Estates magazine recently appointed him chairman of the elder care committee of its editorial advisory board.

CONNIE ALIMENA has been promoted to regional vice president and operates from the office located at 1 Rockefeller Plaza.
MARI ANASTOS brings 20 years of experience as a legal assistant in the title industry to her new role as account executive at Statewide”™s White Plains office on Mamaroneck Avenue.
After graduating from New York Law School, Alimena developed an interest in real estate and began work at a Westchester-based mortgage company and moved on to Statewide Abstract in 2006.
HOSPITAL NAMES NEW MEMBERS TO ITS BOARD
WHITE PLAINS HOSPITAL has named JOHN M. JURELLER, STEVEN SILVER and ROBERT TUCKER, all of Scarsdale, and JONATHAN SPITALNY of White Plains to its board of directors.
Jureller is the executive vice president and CFO for Frontier Communications Corp., a Stamford, Conn.-based telecommunications company. A graduate of Cornell University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA in finance, Jureller has been a member of the hospital”™s finance committee since 2011.
Silver is senior managing director of Centerbridge Partners, a private investment firm based in New York City. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School in 1995, where he was a George F. Baker Scholar. Silver serves on the boards of directors of American Renal Holdings Inc., Culligan Newco Ltd., Reddy Ice Holdings Inc. and Remedi Senior Care Holding Corp.
Spitalny is an executive director and private wealth advisor at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in New York City. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Rollins College and is a former competitive golfer, having competed at the college and national levels. In 2008, Spitalny was instrumental in founding the annual Ahmad Rashad Golf Classic to benefit White Plains Hospital, held every June at the Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale.
Tucker is the chairman and CEO of T&M Protection Resources, an international protection and investigations company for high-net-worth corporations and individuals based in New York City. He is a graduate of George Washington University and the Pace University School of Law. In 2013, Gov. Andrew Cuomo appointed Tucker to serve as chairman of the New York State Security Guard Advisory Council.
